x Portrait Medal, uniface bronze portrait by John Pinches & Co., after the portrait by John Lins, undated (c.1924), bust left, plain edge, 27mm. (G CM80a), some patchy discolouration on reverse, extremely fine, rare Estimate £ 40-60 This portrat was used by Pinches for the Empire Day and other medals. These uniface pieces are possibly trial strikes. The Duchess of Windsor wore a gold example of this medal on a Cartier bracelet (Duchess of Windsor auction, Sotheby, Geneva, 2-3 April 1997, lot 174).
