Labuan Postage Due and Taxed Mail 1899 (30 June) envelope (complete with letter) from the gunboat U.S.S. Castine at Caldera to U.S.A., the envelope given to a steamer going to North Borneo where it was posted at Kudat, bearing 2c. pair and 5c. with c.d.s., underfranked by 1c. and showing "T" h.s. (Type UP2) applied at Labuan in transit (6.7), "2 1/2" in violet crayon, "collect/postage/1 cents" h.s. and bearing U.S. Postage Due cancelled at Newark on arrival (17.8), upon arrival redirected to New York, the reverse with Labuan (6.7, 7.7 and 8.7) and four different U.S. transit c.d.s.; a couple of minor imperfections though an most unusual cover.
