Malacca Covers and Cancellations 1918 (16 Jan.) India 1/2a. stationery envelope to Merlimau Estate via Malacca (12.2), uprated with 1/2a. (on reverse), endorsed "Left Merlimau Estate" and returned to GPO (12.2), sent by GPO to Dead Letter Office (13.2) then from the DLO back to India with endorsement "Try Malayalam". The envelope showing unframed "unknown" (Type I6, the only recorded example), circular "letter censor/passed/no 16/penang" in violet, Straits Settlements Censor label at left and, on reverse, oval "dead letter office/malacca" d.s. in violet (Type D1, the only recorded example).
