Malacca Early Letters and Handstamps 1844 (16 Apr.) entire letter from Cape Town, carried privately to "Capt. Mockford, 17th Regt Madras N.I., Madras" where it was put in the post to Malacca and then readdressed to Penang, endorsed "HM Ship Alligator" and showing, on reverse across join, "madras/ship letter/post paid" d.s. (30.5) and fine framed "malacca/ship letter/184 July/Bearing" (Type SL1), both in red. Very rare, one of six recorded examples. Photo Estimate S$ 8,000-10,000 provenance: Dr. F.E.
