Gibraltar Ship Letters 1851 (18 Aug.) entire letter "p Osmanli" to Leghorn, variously rated and showing a fine strike of the "gibraltar/18 au 1851/ship letter" h.s. in blue with oval-framed "v.p.m." h.s. (Via Particolare Marittima) alongside, arrival c.d.s. (27.8) on reverse. Fine and attractive. Photo Estimate £ 300-400 Note: "V.P.M." was only used on mail arriving by merchant ships between March 1851 and December 1852. The charge for a foreign letter was 8 denari in addition to the ship letter rate of 4d.
