Ceylon 1861-64 Watermark Star Issue Clean-cut and Intermediate perf. 14 to 15 1/2 5d. chestnut, clean-cut perf., neatly cancelled by large part strike of "cancelled" obliterator, thinned though of fine appearance. Extremely rare, one of four recorded examples, one of which is in the collection of Her Majesty The Queen. R.P.S. Certificate (2004). S.G. 22, £8000. Photo Estimate £ 5,000-6,000 Note: In August 1861 the printers, Perkins, Bacon & Co., provided six examples of each stamp in their possession to Ormond Hill (eldest son of Rowland Hill) for members of his family. This stamp is from position 1 in the horizontal block of six.
