Great Britain 1840 One Penny Black Plate II BK, good if slightly ragged margins on all sides, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation on envelope to Lewes, Sussex, on reverse, 1840 (5 Sept.) Rotherham datestamp (7.9), the envelope "turned" and bearing 1d. black Plate Ib QG (recut side lines), with large margins and tied by another red Maltese Cross, addressed to Grosvenor Gardens with Lewes datestamp (19.9). and arrival (11.9).on the reverse; the envelope with a central vertical filing fold well clear of the adhesives and with some splits along the folds, otherwise fine.
