Great Britain 1840 One Penny Black Plate Ia LA, intense black shade, used on 1840 (31 May) entire from Dover to London (4th. Sunday), large margins all round and neatly tied by part strike of the red Maltese Cross, leaving a clear profile of the Queen´s head, the reverse showing a fine strike of "dover/my 31/1840" double-ring datestamp in black and London arrival c.d.s. in red; central vertical filing fold and the adhesive with minor toning to the edges of the margins on three sides, otherwise of fine appearance and a rare Sunday usage which opens out well for display.
