Uninscribed coinage, Trinovantes, c.45-40 BC, AR Unit, 1.18g, late Whaddon chase type, head with moustache, right, rev. abstract horse with single tail right, ring pellet below, various symbols in field (cf. Mack 375; V.1558; BMC 376; S.-), ragged edges, good detail, good very fine, extremely rare Estimate £ 180-220 provenance Seaby 1956 Published by Clem Lister- see BNJ XXIX, 1958, pp 5-7 and plate XV, no.6. Clem Lister attributed this correctly to Mack 375 but noted it as a coin of the Catuvellauni rather than Trinovantes as is now accepted. When purchased he noted this coin as the only known example showing the head with a moustache.
