United States of America, Nevada Exposition silver medal 1876, let god be with us as he was with our fathers, Liberty Bell between Minute Man and soldier, nevada above, 1776-1876 at sides rev. made from nevada ore at international exhibition - all for our country, sun setting over a valley, a plough in the foreground, a mining scene, and a steam train crossing a viaduct in the middle distance (HK 19; Julian CM36), good extremely fine, brilliant steel grey surfaces with flashes of light blue and pink toning in the centres Estimate £ 200-250 Designed by William Barber and struck at the Philadelphia mint from Nevada silver, these so called Dollars commemorate the U.S. Centennial Exposition. A total of 2,256 pieces were sold at the Nevada Pavillion for $1.25. each The certificate that originally accompanied these medals, dated 20 June 1876, states ´I certify that the Nevada Exposition Medals, prepared in this Department, and this day delivered to Mr C C Stevenson, Chairman of the Nevada State Board, are made of pure silver, crushed from Nevada ores, at the Nevada quartz mill located in the Centennial Exposition grounds and subsequently refined at the United States Mint. The current estimated population is between 50 and 250 pieces.
