(Hild.1, S.241, 312), very fine, very rare Estimate £ 150-200 The portrait of Gustavus II Adolphus is by by Lorenz Schilling (c.1575-1637), who engraved coins at numerous mints including Frankfort, Erbach, Hanau, Isenburg and Stolburg (see Forrer V, 384 who gives a date for this medal c.1631). This portrait is also used on a medal commemorating the king´s departure from Stockholm in 1630 (Duke of Northumberland collection lot 190).
