Anglo-Saxon post-Crondall types (c.655-675), base gold Thrymsa, 1.16g, ´Two Emperors´ type, helmeted bust right, pattern of pellets below, cross before, blundered inscription, rev. head of angel facing with wings spreading above heads of two seated Emperors (cf. Metcalf 79-80; N.20; cf. S.767), small edge chip to right of head, nearly very fine, extremely rare Estimate £ 600-800 The very low gold content and blundered legends of this coin suggests it is a transitional issue between the gold Thrymsa and silver Sceatta coinages.
