Portugal, Kingdom, Order of Christ, Commander´s Star, by Mignolet, Paris, 77mm including sacred heart x 70mm, silver, gold, and enamel, maker´s cartouche on reverse, extremely fine Estimate £ 350-400 The firm of Mignolet, 34 Palais Royale, Paris, has only ever been noted once before in connection with insignia of Orders of Knighthood, on a Commander´s Star of the Portuguese Order of Christ (Court Jewellers of the World refers). It is therefore possible that this Star is the only piece of insignia that the firm ever produced.
