Lacs de Plitvice S.A., 400 kruna share, Zagreb 1921, no.0526, panoramic photographic vignette of the lake, grey-green, brown and black, 4 pages, with coupons, very fine. Estimate £ 50 The Plitvice Lakes, a series of 16 or so interlocked lakes, were a major tourist attraction in the 1890´s and conservation was even then a huge issue. The Lakes were nationalised in 1949 by the Yugoslavian Government. In 1991 they were the scene of the ´Plitvice Lakes Incident´, the first armed confrontation of the Croatian War of Independence.
