A Naval Officer´s Sword A Royal Navy Sword, by Gieve, Matthews, and Seagrove Ltd, Portsmouth, bearing foliate decoration, crowned anchor, and Royal Arms, regulation guilt guard with fishskin grip and spring-clip retaining mechanism, this engraved ´D.L. Davenport. R.N.´, and sword knot, in black leather scabbard with brass fittings, and black leather scabbard bag; together with the recipient´s two well-annotated Midshipman´s Logs, covering the period 3.5.1937-3.3.1939, for service in H.M.S. Delhi, Malaya, Hardy, Repulse, St. Vincent, and Rodney. Estimate £ 300-400 Rear-Admiral Dudley Leslie Davenport, C.B., O.B.E. (1919-1990), educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth; served during the Second War in Destroyers in the Mediterranean and Atlantic; Commanded H.M.S. Holmes, 1945; H.M.S.
