Military General Service 1793-1814, one clasp, Corunna (R.F. [sic] Bingham, Capt. 1st. Foot Gds.), minor edge bruise, good very fine Estimate £ 1,000-1,200 Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Turbeville Bingham, Commissioned Ensign, 18th Foot, June 1793; Lieutenant, September 1794; exchanged to the 1st Foot Guards as Lieutenant and Captain, June 1798; Brevet Major, January 1805; served in Sicily under the Command of Colonel W. Anson, 1805-6; served in the Peninsula with the 1st Battalion, October 1808- January 1809, under Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Charles Bentinck, and present at the Battle of Corunna, 16.1.1809, where the 1st Foot Guards suffered heavy casualties; Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel, January 1812; retired April 1813. Both medal and published transcript of roll at variance with contemporary Army Lists which give recipient as R.T. Bingham. However, the medal is entirely as issued.
