Naval General Service 1793-1840, one clasp, Off Tamatave 20 May 1811 (Thos. Hewitt.), suspension claw re-affixed, officially re-impressed naming, very fine Estimate £ 600-800 Thomas Hewitt served as Landsman in H.M.S. Phoebe as part of Rear Admiral Stopford´s squadron that engaged three French 40-gun frigates (Renommee, Clorinde and Nereide) off the east coast of Madagascar, May 1811, when the Phoebe lost seven men killed and twenty-four wounded.
