Four: Vice-Admiral G. le G. Bowyear, Royal Navy Crimea 1854-56, one clasp, Sebastopol (G.L. Bowyear, Commander, Vengeance.), contemporarily engraved in large serif capitals, with top silver riband buckle; France, Second Empire, Legion of Honour, Chevalier´s breast Badge, 62mm including crown suspension x 42mm, silver, gold, and enamel; Turkey, Ottoman Empire, Order of the Medjidieh, Fifth Class breast Badge, 73mm including star and crescent suspension x 48mm, silver, gold applique, and enamel; Turkish Crimea, Sardinian die, plugged, with contemporary silver loop suspension, minor enamel damage, generally good very fine (4) Estimate £ 800-1,000 Vice Admiral George le Geyt Bowyear, C.B., entered the Royal Navy, December 1830; Lieutenant, April 1840; Commander, September 1851; served during the Crimea in H.M.S. Vengeance, and present at the attack on the sea defences at Sebastopol, 17.10.1854; transferred to H.M.S. Vulcan, which was involved in bringing troops and invalids home from the Crimea; Captain, May 1856; appointed Flag Captain at Portsmouth in H.M.S. Victory, December 1868; Rear-Admiral, June 1874; retired with the rank of Vice-Admiral, February 1879. Vice-Admiral Bowyear died at St. Helier, Jersey, February 1903.
