Foot.), signs of brooch mounting in obverse field, edge bruising, therefore very fine, with original steel clip and contemporary split ring suspension Estimate £ 3,000-3,500 Private Thomas Powell, born Shropshire; served in the 3rd Battalion 95th Foot, 28.12.1813-3.8.1816, including in Captain W. Eeles´ Company during the Waterloo Campaign, being discharged ´in consequence of a G.S. wound in the left hip received in action of Waterloo June 18th 1815´ (Service Papers refer). Only two companies of the 3/95th were present during the battle, making it the smallest British infantry unit at Waterloo. Provenance: Payne Collection 1911
