Five: Captain A. de C. Dickson, Ceylon Planters Rifle Corps 1939-1945 Star; Burma Star; Defence and War Medals; Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., with ´Ceylon´ scroll suspension (No. 3850 Rfn. A. de C. Dickson. C.P.R.C.), nearly extremely fine, with the related miniature awards (5) Estimate £ 60-80 Captain A. de C. Dickson, Commissioned Second Lieutenant, Indian Army, 12.11.1942; Lieutenant, 12.5.1943; Temporary Captain, 28.8.1943. The Ceylon Planters Rifle Corps was established in 1900, with its headquarters in Kandy; the officers and other ranks were made up of Europeans, who were tea and rubber planters in the central highlands of Ceylon. Although primarily deployed for home defence in Ceylon during the Second World War, the Corps provided approximately 700 volunteers to be commissioned as officers in both the British and Indian Armies. The Corps was disbanded in April 1949 following Ceylon´s Independence.
