A., No. 20 (AC) Squadron ´For distinguished services rendered in the field in connection with the Mohmand Operations, North West Frontier of India, during the period 15th/16 August to 15th/16th October, 1935 Wing Commander Albert Fisher, O.B.E. (1901-1971), born Islington, London; enlisted as Boy Apprentice, Royal Air Force, 25.2.1919; remustered Aircraftman 2nd Class/Wireless Operator Mechanic, 23.6.1920; served with 31 Squadron (F2bs), Risalpur, India, December 1920-August 1922 and October 1922-December 1925, during this time the squadron undertook night sorties as part of ´Pink´s War´; Corporal 1.4.1923; after postings to 25 (Fighter) Squadron, Hawkinge and No. 2 F.T.S. he returned to India as a Flight Sergeant with 205 (Flying Boat) Squadron, April 1933 and transferred later the same month to 20 Squadron (Wapitis), Peshawar; he flew with the squadron during the Mohmand operations, 1935, including 28/29.9.1935 (M.I.D.) when the squadron working in its Army Co-operation capacity was engaged in the Battle of Hill 4080; Captain G. Meynell, Corps of Guides, was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross for this action; Fisher returned to the UK, March 1937, and was posted to 78 Squadron (Whitleys), Dishforth, the following month; Warrant Officer 5.9.1937; with the outbreak of the Second World War he was granted an Emergency Commission as Flying Officer, Technical Branch, 15.2.1940; his war time postings as an instructor included: No. 11 O.T.U.; No. 7 Signals School; No. 82 O.T.U.; No. 86 O.T.U.; No. 22 Heavy Glider Conversion Unit, 15 Base and No. 8305 Air Disarmament Wing (O.B.E.; M.I.D. London Gazette 1.1.1941 and 8.6.1944); advanced Squadron Leader 1.10.1945; post war appointments included: to Air H.Q., British Air Forces of Occupation; H.Q. Transport Command; H.Q. 46 Group and was ´Chief Signals Officer of the British Element of the Berlin Airlift´ (newspaper article included in lot refers); H.Q.
