Repton 5.8.56´, silver (Hallmarks for Birmingham 1949), with top silver riband bar, extremely fine, together with the related cloth emblem; Boy Scouts cap badge; and a photographic image of the recipient Estimate £ 500-700 Scout Association Silver Cross for Gallantry, promulgated 24.10.1956 ´In recognition of his gallantry in diving into a flooded river and rescuing a boy from drowning. Despite the fierce current, he reached the drowning boy and brought him back across the river to safety.´ Boy Scout John Frederick Repton, born Crumpsall, Manchester, 31.10.1942, the son of Private John Repton, Pioneer Corps; joined the 2/99th Manchester Group of Scouts and advanced Patrol Leader; awarded the Scout Association Silver Cross for Gallantry for his actions whilst camping with his Scout Group by the River Bollin, Altrincham, Cheshire, 5.8.1956, aged 13; continued as a member of his Scout Group and appointed Assistant Scout Leader, 5.1.1961, resigned, March 1964.
