x Hong Kong, Belilios Distinguished Service Order Star, silver (Hallmarks for London 1892) and enamel, reverse engraved ´Distinguished Service Order Awarded Geo. S. Foden Hong Kong 1901´, with top silver riband bar, engraved ´Awarded to G.S. Foden for Gallantry´, about extremely fine, rare, with blue riband for gallantry at Sea Estimate £ 600-800 George S. Foden, born Hednesford, Staffordshire, February 1878; died Los Angeles, United States of America, September 1963. The Belilios Star, Hong Kong´s own Life Saving award, was instituted in 1884, and is named after Mr. Emanuel Raphael Belilios (1837-1905), Chairman of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Member of the Legislative Council, and notable philanthropist. The Belilios Trust files relating to the early awards were destroyed during the Second World War. The last award was made in 1984.
