Egypt 1882-89, dated, one clasp, Alexandria 11th. July (J. Wilson. M.A. M.D. Surgn. R.N. H.M.S. "Hecla".), very fine Estimate £ 240-280 Fleet Surgeon John Wilson (1846-1897), educated at Queen´s College, University of Belfast, and the Royal University of Ireland; appointed Surgeon, Royal Navy, April 1873; served at home and in Malta; transferred to H.M.S. Hecla, June 1882; served during the Egyptian War 1882-3, present at the bombardment of Alexandria and at subsequent operations there, and in the Suez Canal during the occupation; promoted Staff Surgeon, April 1885; served in the Pacific and at home; Fleet Surgeon, January 1894.
