Highgate Archway Company, £50 share, 18(10), no.318, attractive early piece with red paper seal affixed at left, black printing on vellum, good very fine and especially nice condition for this issue. Estimate £ 350 Formed to cut a tunnel through the steep hill at Highgate, North London, which collapsed when almost complete, forming the present cutting. The company then built the bridge across, which was rebuilt at the turn of the century.
