China Wei Hai Wei Japanese Occupation 1896 (24 Nov.) stampless envelope with enclosure to Miyato in Gunma Prefecture bearing a good strike of Wei Hai Wei P.O. no.1 in red and with manuscript Gunji Yubin (Military Mail) and with arrival c.d.s. in black. Send by a member of second company, 15th Infantry Regiment with contents which include, "... Three years have passed since our good-bye ... I´ve stayed here for half a year ... Act. 8 of Shimonoseki Treaty decides return of Wei Hai Wei. Chinese Government asked us to return Wei Hai Wei but Japanese Government replied that China must pay second payment or pay fully to retreat force ... Some tell us that we´ll be able to return in February or March next year but it seems that we´ll be able to return later. I hope to return as soon as possible...". Fine.
