x Ireland Collections and Ranges A collection of postal history on stockcards, comprising a good range of pre stamp entires (8) including, 1703 (12 Sept.) entire to Dublin, sent under the free franking scheme and signed "Ja Jeffries", showing a very fine strike of the fancy Dublin Inspectors ´Crown´ handstamp and discernible "cork" adjacent; 1799 entire letter from Dublin to the Earl of Fitzwilliam in london; 1823 entire letter used locally in Dublin with the address panel showing superb strike of "to be/deliver´d/free"; 1831 entire from Downpatrick to Dublin (apparently carried privately to Dublin and put in the post there); 1839 entire letter from Falmouth to Waterford, carried under the free frank system and signed "Donegal" at lower left, the address panel showing fine red strike of ´crowned´ Free c.d.s; 1842 (5 Sept.) entire addressed to "The Duke of Wellington, not prepaid and showing fine strike of the blue handstruck "4" of Newry, the sender of the mail presumably believing that Wellingtons mail would be sent free; 1845 (2 Mar.) entire to London apparently originating from Guiana, the address panel with fine light scroll type "ship letter" and superb handstruck "2" both in blue, the "2" overstruck with black inspectors zigzag erasure mark and large black handstruck "8"; stamped Postal History (12) including 1850 (4 July) entire to Cape of Good Hope bearing 1841 2d. KA-KD strip of four, tied by black numeral cancellations; 1867 envelope to Dublin, inscribed "Officers Letter" and "H.M.S. Nimble" in manuscript bearing 1865-67 6d. plate 5 pair cancelled by "T03" in oval of bars; also 1841 2d. strip of three and two singles each cancelled by black numeral obliterator; a generally fine assembly with some rarer items included, with viewing recommended.
