France, base metal medals (4) : Railway Law passed for the construction of the railways 1842, AE 52 (M.120; Swan cat. 252), some verdigris on the obv., otherwise extremely fine; a uniface lead squeeze of the reverse of the large medal (112 mm) on the same occasion by A. Bovy, Law seated on a socle, Mercury and Mars at sides (cf. M.112; cf. Swan cat. 253), about extremely fine; Glorification of the Railways, 1843, AE 53, by A. A. Caqué, an early engine with two coaches in a mountainous landscape, rev. a paddle steamer with two masts and sails set (M.122; Swan cat. 255), extremely fine; together with a lead squeeze of the obverse of the medal by Caqué, (c.f. M.122; c.f. Swan cat.255), good very fine (4)
