1853 (6 Dec.) envelope from St. Pierre to Paris, posted stampless and consequently charged "12" decimes, showing framed "pd" in red with dispatch c.d.s. at right, the charge on arrival being crossed out and cancelled with subsequent application of 1852 Second Issue 25c. pair, defective at base, to pay the internal postage on arrival, backstamped at Paris on 6 January; some very slight tone spots and cover edge imperfections. A very interesting and most rare usage of this issue on mail originating from Martinique. Maury 10. Photo
