1894 (Oct.) and 1895 (Mar.) 1½d. grey missionary correspondence cards from Rev. Frederic Christol at Herman Missionary Station, the first to France and the second to Jerusalem, both cancelled with barred oval "156" and showing despatch (D2), Aliwal North, Cape Town and arrival datestamps, all on face, the latter also showing senders cachet at upper left corner. An unusual pair of these cards which were apparently only issued on 1 January 1895, the former usage prior to this date being a mystery
