Tribal Tax- Ongandjera Tribe
1936-44 pair of registration cards, the first bearing payments for 1936-39, 1936 paid with South Africa revenue 5/-black and brown overprinted "ongandjera/ s.w.a." (2mm type), 1937-39 each paid with 1931 postage 5/- overprinted with silver bar and tribe name by Bradbury Wilkinson, the card then endorsed "Exempted" for the following years, the second card bearing payments for 1942-44, each paid with 1931 postage 1½d. brown overprinted "Ongandjera/ 5/-", each cancelled by Magistrates oval d.s. in red. Extremely rare cards, this lot containing the finest two cards of the four recorded from this tribe, free from the usual damage with folds in cards running in between the fresh and fine adhesives.
