The Oryx Collection of South West Africa: Tribal Tax Part I
c.1940 collection of documents (12) relating to the administration of Tribal Tax; including unique 1949 Control card and registration certificate on yellow card, both endorsed "Specimen Card" in manuscript, requisition sheets (4) requesting new supplies of the stamps, the earliest dated 1937 requesting 5/- face value overprints for seven different tribes with registration and control cards, later1954 sheets (3), itemised by face value and tribe requesting further printings, finally two "Department of Administration" large sheets "Showing the number of Tribal Trust Fund Stamps received, sold and on hand" for 1944, and 1960, again itemised by tribe and face value. Lastly a letter concerning an order for tin holders for the native registration cards. A wonderful accumulation and a unique archival record of this fascinating issue.
