Victoria (1837-1901), Pattern Halfcrown, 1876, by Leonard Charles Wyon after William Wyon, Royal Mint (Tower), VICTORIA D: G: BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D: toothed border, coroneted head left, formed of national emblems, with two tie ribbons, L.C.W. in relief below bust, rev. struck en médaille, anepigraphic, toothed border, enlarged St George and Dragon left, sloping ground, L.C.W. in relief below, edge plain, 14.82g, 12h (Hocking 2192-2194, 2214-2216; Montagu -; L C Wyon [1901 Sale] 19-20; Murdoch 577; Saward 207-208; Nobleman 316-318; one of only four known; Lingford = Adams 695; MSCE Patt. 47; Davies 635; ESC 740 [R5]; Spink -), small carbon spot above coronet, otherwise iridescently cabinet toned and brilliant much as struck, excessively rare, believed only ten struck, more than half of which are within Museum collections and the first to be offered in these rooms or at any global public auction in nearly two decades, with NGC certification (Cert. #6767983-002)
