George III (1760-1820), 'Rose' Half-Guinea, 1763, first laureate head right, with 'apple' cheeks, and lovelock of hair, rev. crowned garnished shield, edge obliquely milled, 4.19g [64.7grns], 6h (Lt.-Col. J K R Murray [1952], lot 67 [VR]; MCE 406; EGC 800 [R4]; Spink 3731), light friction in otherwise lustrous fields, a tiny scuff at 12 o'clock, otherwise near extremely fine, an excessively rare date as a currency issue, with NGC certification (Cert. #6767979-002)
