George II (1727-1760), 'Old Head' Halfcrown, 1750 VICESIMO QVARTO, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, rev. crowned shields cruciform, seven strings to harp, angles plain, edge lettered downwards, 15.08g, 6h (ESC 609; Bull 1692; Spink 3696), a delightfully balanced and full striking for this scarcer date, the fields unimpinged by flecking and instead cloaked in delicate cabinet tone further accentuated by underlying lustrous flaring in recesses, a hint of rub to hairline, otherwise extremely fine, rare thus
