(x) Pair: Captain and Acting Deputy Assistant Commissary General T. Duncan, Royal Irish Regiment, late North Tipperary Militia who was seconded to the Commissariat and Transport Staff during the Suakin expedition

Thomas Duncan was appointed 2nd Lieutenant with the North Tippery Militia on 27 October 1880. Promoted Lieutenant on 1 July 1881 he was transferred to the Reserve of Officers, 4th Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment on 20 September 1884. Posted to Egypt for the Suakin expedition in 1885 as Acting Deputy Assistant Commissary General he was seconded to the Commissariat on 29 March 1885 with the rank of Captain while he performed the role. Duncan was officially appointed Captain when he returned to his Regiment on 22 August 1885. He finally returned to the reserve again on 3 October 1888.
