Isaac Henry Hewitt was born c.1818 and became an Ensign in the 18th Foot by purchase on 12 July 1839 , promoted to Lieutenant on 13 May 1841. Served with the 18th Royal Irish on the China expedition, and was present at Canton, Amoy, Chusan, Chinhae, Ningpo, Segoan, Chapoo, Shanghai, Woosung, and Chinkiangfoo. He then served throughout the second Burmese war, including the capture of Rangoon, Prome, and Myattoon's stockades near Donabew. Hewitt was promoted to Captain on 15 March 1853. He died at Clancoole Terrace, Bandon, Cork in 1865.
